Photography is one of the most important investments you will make for your wedding. These are the moments you will look back on for years, in photo albums, on social media and in frames around your home. How many hours of coverage you need depends on your timeline, the kind of celebration you are planning and what matters most to you.

At All 4 One Farms, you have twelve hours of access to the venue, and the option to work with one of our coordinators, which gives you and your photographer more room to work with. Whether you are planning a small wedding or a large celebration, here is how to think about how many photography hours will fit your day.

Understanding photography coverage options

Most photographers offer packages based on the number of hours they spend on your day. Every couple's needs are different, but coverage tends to fall into three general categories. Here is what to consider for each.

Photography lasts well beyond the wedding day itself.

Six-hour photography package

If you are planning an elopement or a micro wedding, six hours of coverage might be enough. These celebrations often have fewer guests, a simpler timeline and less focus on elaborate decor or a long, multi-course reception.

With six hours of coverage, your photographer can capture the most important parts of your day, including:

  • Getting-ready moments
  • The first look, if you are planning one
  • Your ceremony
  • Couple's portraits and family photos
  • The early part of your reception, such as your entrance and first dance

Six hours works well when your timeline is flexible and everything happens in one place, like All 4 One Farms. Since everything is on the same property, your photographer can spend more of that time on the moments that matter, rather than travel between locations. It does mean that later parts of the day, such as late-night dancing or your send-off, may not make it into your gallery.

Eight-hour photography package

For a traditional wedding, eight hours of photography is a common choice. It allows for a fuller story, from the start of the day through the key parts of the reception. For a one-location wedding at a venue like All 4 One Farms, eight hours is often just right.

With this coverage, your photographer can typically capture:

  • Getting ready with your wedding party
  • A first look or pre-ceremony portraits
  • The ceremony
  • Couple's portraits and family photos
  • The main reception highlights, including your first dance, speeches, cake cutting and bouquet toss

At All 4 One Farms, you have a backdrop for every photo, from the open fields to the barn and gardens. Because everything happens on site, you save the time you would otherwise spend moving between locations, which leaves more of your photography package for the moments themselves.

Our coordinators can also help keep your timeline on track, so you are not rushed while your photographer works.

Ten-plus-hour photography package

Larger weddings, or days with more than one location, often call for extended coverage. A ten-plus-hour package makes sure nothing gets missed, with added time for details such as:

  • A relaxed morning as both sides of the wedding party get ready
  • A first look at a separate location
  • Extended portraits with family, friends and your partner
  • A longer or more formal ceremony
  • A full reception, from toasts to the dance floor and your exit

All 4 One Farms works well for a full-day celebration. With twelve hours of access, you have time for decor setup, for enjoying each part of your day without rushing, and for extras such as golden-hour portraits or an evening at the firepit. A longer photography package gives your photographer room to capture all of it.

This is also where one of our coordinators can help most, building a realistic timeline with room for the unexpected while keeping the moments that matter on track.

Other factors to consider

Once you have a sense of what each package offers, here are a few more things to weigh.

Start with your priorities

Think about the moments that matter most to you: the quiet of getting ready with your closest friends, the emotion of your first look, the energy on the dance floor. Making a short list of the pictures you most want, and sharing it with your photographer, helps them recommend how much time you will need.

Review your timeline

A detailed timeline helps you understand how your day will flow, including prep time, any travel and how much flexibility you want built in. At All 4 One Farms, having everything in one location helps simplify this, since you spend less time commuting and more time enjoying your day.

Seasonality and lighting

Natural light plays a big part in outdoor wedding photos. Golden-hour portraits, taken just before sunset, take some planning within your timeline. A longer wedding day may need extra time to make sure those moments are captured, whether that means timing your ceremony so portraits land near sunset, or stepping away from your reception for a short couples shoot at the right time.

Add videography

If you want moving images as well as stills, videography can complement your photography package, giving you a mix of posed portraits and candid moments.
