One of the biggest mistakes newly engaged couples make is waiting too long to secure their venue. Having hosted hundreds of weddings since 2017, we have seen firsthand how quickly prime wedding dates disappear. If you are recently engaged, understanding today's booking timelines can save you stress and give you more options.
How far in advance are couples booking
Nationally, most couples book their venue between 12 and 18 months before the wedding. In high-demand markets, popular dates often book 18 to 24 months out. At our farm, we are currently booking into 2028.
Your venue shapes your date, guest count, wedding style, budget structure and vendor availability.
Jacksonville's most popular wedding months
In North Florida, the most requested months are February, March, October and November. These months bring comfortable temperatures, lower humidity, good outdoor conditions and better light for photography. Because these dates are in high demand, they tend to book first.
Why the venue comes first
Many couples start by shopping for a dress or researching vendors, but the venue should really be one of your first decisions. Your venue shapes your date, guest count, wedding style, budget structure and vendor availability. Once it is booked, the rest of the planning gets easier.
Signs you should start venue shopping now
Start touring venues right away if you have recently gotten engaged, you have a preferred season, you want a Saturday wedding, you are planning a wedding with more than 100 guests, or you are considering an outdoor venue. The earlier you begin, the more options you will have.
What to bring to a venue tour
Before you visit, talk through your guest count, budget range, season and must-have features. Couples often ask what is included, how many hours they receive, whether setup is included, whether they can choose their own vendors, and whether pricing is transparent.
Why experience matters
A beautiful venue matters, but experience matters just as much. Having hosted hundreds of weddings, we have learned how to guide couples through planning challenges before they become problems, and that experience often saves couples real stress along the way.
